Tignes la Grand Motte

Year Round Ski Holidays in Tignes

Due to the Grand Motte glacier and its height, Tignes is able to offer fantastic skiing all year round. Those that simply can’t wait until peak season for a ski holiday in France always have the option of Tignes, even in summer. Standing at 2,100m above sea level, Tignes is one of Europe’s highest ski resorts.

Being open for ski holidays all year is obviously not the only virtue of Tignes, otherwise it wouldn’t be worthy of note. Tignes is an excellent French ski resort regardless of its year round virtues. Tignes consists of five main villages, each with their own distinct character that means ski holidays to Tignes offer plenty of opportunity to explore just as much off the slopes as on. It also means that holiday-goers are able to tailor their ski holidays to their abilities much more as each village plays host to differing slopes.

For example, Tignes Le Lac is a great choice for those still learning to ski, as it has a selection of beginner slopes alongside its intermediate and advanced piste runs, making it perfect for mixed ability group ski holidays. Similarly, Val Claret is the largest and liveliest, with both featuring fantastic apres scenes, meaning group ski holidays looking for a good time after a hard day’s skiing won’t be disappointed.

Although most of the runs in Tignes are more suitable for intermediate and advanced skiers, beginners will be pleased to know that there are five free ski lifts for the nursery slopes, meaning that until they are confident enough to tackle the more challenging runs, they will ski for free. Once at an advanced level, Tignes is renowned for fantastic off-piste terrain and even some vertical drops amongst some absolutely fantastic scenery.

Whether it’s a summer France ski holiday you’re after or a peak time ski holidays, Tignes has a lot to offer.
